Motivation can help us achieve so much, but what happens when we struggle with a lack of motivation?
Struggling with motivation can creep in even with the smallest tasks, from completing chores to achieving lifetime goals, such as running a marathon.
Some days we might be running on an empty tank or just feeling lazy.
It’s important to remember when faced with a lack of motivation, why we wanted to pursue this goal in the first place.
What inspired us to start this journey?

Sometimes, I struggle with motivation for this blog or posting on Instagram because sometimes I feel like it’s reaching nobody. It’s hard to keep writing when sometimes it feels like a waste of time. However, as I have read, blogging isn’t a short journey; it’s a long journey before you start seeing success.
But then I remember why I started blogging. I want to remind people to keep shining and share my journey, so others know they aren’t alone.
I want people to realise they aren’t behind or have exactly what they need to shine, no matter where they are in their journey.
What is motivation?
Motivation is what inspires us to take action to achieve a goal. It’s almost the “why” behind our actions.
But it’s not always about chasing a goal, and it can apply to things around the house or introducing new habits.
How To Motivate Yourself?
- Remember the why
What inspired you in the first place to start this journey? Remembering the why can take us back and reinspire us to continue.
2. Break down the goal
Breaking it down to bite-sized goals can make the goal feel more achievable and less daunting.
3. Celebrate the small stuff
You don’t need to celebrate at the very end once it’s all over. Why not celebrate the small stuff like if you ran that 1km further than before? Celebrating progress throughout the journey can uplift you and keep up the momentum.
4. Share with others
Sharing your goal with others can help you stay motivated. Think of them as your cheerleaders. With other people asking how XYZ is going, it can motivate you to report progress.
5. Journal your progress
Throughout the journey, it can be difficult to see how far you’ve come. So, whether you’re taking videos of your journey or writing down the progress, it can help you track the progress you are making.
Maintaining motivation is a mindset, and you are allowed to experience periods of feeling unmotivated. However, it’s essential to remember the big picture. When you look back, you’ll be glad that you kept going.
Keep shining,
Madeline
