Discover practical ways to build your self-confidence, overcome fear of judgment, and boost your self-esteem through small, consistent actions.

My thoughts on confidence

Confidence is something that I’ve struggled with for as long as I can remember, and I’m also trying to understand how I can increase it.

A lot of people have told me that confidence is tied to self-esteem and self-worth, so does that mean confidence quietly grows in the background and happens automatically?

To me, confidence means I know I can do something, not necessarily shout it from the rooftop, but having the inner strength to believe that if I put my mind to it, then I can achieve it.

I can see when someone has confidence just from how they walk into the room or are asked to present to a room full of people. They have their head held high and aren’t afraid of people looking at them. However, getting up and speaking in front of people is super daunting to me, as I don’t want people to judge or talk about me later in the day. But when someone has confidence, this doesn’t bother them because they aren’t worried about what other people will think.

So, how does someone overcome the fear of public speaking? Does practicing help – YES! If you practice something like that, the initial nerves wear off, and you begin to trust yourself that you can stand up in a room full of people and present.

How to build your confidence

I think growing your confidence is almost like building blocks, where you continuously step outside your comfort zone, breaking your idea of your limitations. By breaking your boundaries, you start believing you can do anything and hold your head up high.

Confidence and self-esteem do play hand-in-hand, as it depends on how you view yourself and what you think you can achieve. If you have low self-esteem and talk yourself down, how are you meant to have the confidence to believe you can do it?

By just writing this blog post, I better understand what confidence is and how I can continue to shine!

Keep shining,

Madeline
